Forest Management Background
I started in forestry consulting in 1995, working with my father-in-law, Tom Crater, and his partner, Carleton Johns, at what was called at the time, Tom Crater and Associate. Since that time I have been blessed to work with many wonderful landowners all across East Texas and western Louisiana. After Tom Crater retired at the end of 2008, I assumed an ownership role in the company and the name was changed to Crater, Johns & Hartman. Fast forward ten years and the next chapter of my career began by launching Hartman Forestry Consulting Services, a full service forest management firm.

I graduated from Texas A&M in 1992, with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. After moving to Lufkin with my wife, Melinda, I went on to graduate with a Master's degree in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University.

My goal in business is to help forest landowners achieve their goals for their forested properties. I spend many enjoyable hours walking through the woods listening to landowners' dreams and visions for their properties. I look forward to continuing Tom Crater's legacy as I continue my forestry career. If I can be of assistance to you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
